Dr Olga Lavalle

Dr Olga Lavalle

Principal Clinical Psychologist

Known for her warm and caring approach, Dr Olga Lavalle is highly regarded as an empathetic, knowledgeable and compassionate psychologist. 

An accomplished author, speaker and presenter, Olga is dedicated to helping people create positive change within their lives. She established Dr Olga Lavalle & Associates as a psychology practice which values its clients and is dedicated to helping them achieve their wellbeing goals. 

With more than thirty years of experience working in the mental health sector, Olga has worked in community mental health, collaborated on research with the University of Wollongong, developed staff training programs on managing aggression and violence, and worked on inpatient mental health units. 

She brings her diverse experience and positive approach to everything she does, and believes in the power of psychology and treatment in helping people to improve their lives and overcome challenges. 

In 2019, Olga released her highly acclaimed book The New Normal: A Widow’s Guide to Grief, based on her own experience of grief after her husband died suddenly in 2014. 

Olga provides evidenced-based treatment tailored to each individual client’s needs. She draws from various therapeutic approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy and Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy. 

She continues her learning and professional development, and is looking forward to continuing to build on the success of her practice.

Shanna White

Shanna White

Registered Psychologist

With more than 10 years’ experience in mental health care, Shanna brings a wealth of knowledge to her role with our clinic. She is a registered Psychologist and Family Therapist, and has worked with children, adolescents and adults to help with recovery from complex trauma.

For children with behavioural issues, whether at home or at school, Shanna’s caring nature and practical advice can help create positive improvements with a range of issues, including those children and adolescents living with post traumatic stress disorder, phobias, Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders, depression and social issues. 

Shanna can provide cognitive, vocational and behavioural assessments for children and adolescents, and conducts behavioural support planning for forensic and educational settings, and parenting capacity assessments for children’s and family court. 

Shanna loves to share her knowledge with industry peers, and regularly works as a trainer and psycho-educational facilitator for healthcare professionals.

Janelle Gallagher

Janelle Gallagher

Registered Psychologist

An experienced Registered Psychologist with a diverse range of experience, Janelle brings her flexible and well-informed approach to each and every client. 

With more than 12 years experience in providing high quality services, Janelle has worked in education, health, sexual assault, domestic violence and workplace injury and rehabilitation, and she particularly enjoys helping older adolescents and young adults.

Janelle has helped clients work through issues including post traumatic stress disorder, depression, anxiety, grief and loss, adjustment disorder, social skills deficits, adult learning difficulties and trauma resulting from workplace injuries. 

She helps her clients by applying a range of therapies, including Cognitive Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy, Trauma Therapy, Narrative and Strength-based Therapies. 

“No two clients are the same, and my approach is to provide clients with empowering and relevant solutions to their issues, to improve their overall mental health and quality of life.”

 

Jennifer Byrne

Registered Psychologist

Jennifer’s fascination with the workings of the human mind means she has an ongoing commitment to learning and teaching. She has been involved in research into ‘pain in older Australians’ and ‘depression in women’, and has facilitated workshops on mindfulness, neuroplasticity, stress and anxiety.

Jennifer has been a Registered Psychologist for eight years, and adapts different approaches to suit every client’s needs and circumstances. Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) and Trauma Information Care have become a strong part of her therapeutic work.

She is particularly interested in helping people in the areas of grief and loss, anxiety and stress, relaxation training, mindfulness practices, positive neuroplasticity and trauma

“I know it’s a cliche, but I really do enjoy helping people. I take a gentle and respectful approach to helping my clients find the strategies and skills to get their lives back on track.”

Crystal (Yee Tak) Lee

Registered Psychologist

As a Registered Psychologist with a practical approach to therapy, Crystal has worked in a variety of settings including rural areas, cities, schools and community organisations. 

She is also a behavioural therapist, and a trained facilitator for the evidence-based parenting program: Tuning into Kids.

Crystal incorporates a range of evidence-based treatments when helping her clients, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Interpersonal therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Compassion-Focused Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy and Schema Therapy.

She helps people to deal with a wide range of mental health concerns including anxiety, depression, interpersonal issues, life transitions, anger, trauma, parent-child engagement, and sleep issues. 

Crystal works with clients of all ages and different language and cultural backgrounds, and can deliver therapy in English and Cantonese.

Administration/Office Manager

Chloe is a warm and friendly person, the welcoming voice people hear when they first call our clinic to make an appointment or an enquiry. 

Chloe has completed training in business administration, and manages the office effectively to keep everything running smoothly. 

Her bright personality and strong work ethic, make our clinic a welcoming place to visit.

Therapy Dog in Training

Dre, or Doc Dre, is a toy Cavoodle, and he’s joined our team as a learner to become an official Therapy Dog.

At first he’ll be there for our clients in the reception area, and will also be assisting in therapy sessions as his training progresses.
