Suzanneh-Jane Lucas is a highly motivated and enthusiastic Psychologist who has been working in psychiatric rehabilitation and treatment since 2005 and registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulatory Agency.

Suzanneh has worked in the non-government sector in adolescent psychiatric rehabilitation, in parenting group facilitation and as a research assistant at the Institute of Psychiatry whilst studying and training to become registered as a Psychologist. Post registration in 2011, Suzanneh has worked therapeutically in both the government community mental health sector as a clinician, in relationship counselling, as a mental health group educator and a therapeutic group facilitator.

As a Psychologist, her therapeutic work with people comes from a foundation of a self-actualising collaborative process with the client. The therapeutic framework utilised is eclectic but draws upon best evidence based therapies such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Strengths and collaborative recovery. Subsequently, as a therapist being able to draw upon a variety of therapeutic tools throughout the therapeutic recovery process including evidence based practice is advantageous for the client.

A keen interest of Suzanneh’s is the aetiology of what is currently termed as borderline personality and the practice of Dialectical Behavioural Therapy. Other points of interest in her psychology practice is the role of trauma in mental health and people’s overall wellbeing, attachment theory, group work and community education.

A fundamental motivator for Suzanneh is to give back and help others. In 2004, she completed 3 months community aid work in the South Pacific region; working in a team of young people to help organise a youth skills summit and assist in eye screening as part of the Fred Hollows Foundation.

Prior to venturing into the field of psychology in 2004, Suzanneh was accomplished in the Environmental Health Profession in Local government. This work assisted Suzanneh to gain a solid foundation in life that enhances her professional practice as a Psychologist.
